Reflections on the Picture Book Sharing Tour – Yong Zhen Elementary School, Toufen: 11 May 2026

Today we visited Yong Zhen Elementary School in Toufen and saw English learning come alive. Teacher Lulu taught storytelling with \"The Little Mouse Learns Shapes\" and teacher Jobeth brought the characters from \"I Am (Not) Scared!\" to life through animated delivery, voice changes, and movement. Students across the primary grades participated with enthusiasm.

From the moment our teachers walked in, the energy was wonderful. Lulu used bright visuals and hands-on activities to help students understand shapes through a story. Jobeth used animation, expressive voices, and movement—students imitated actions and learned emotions like scared, happy, and angry through gesture and play. Every activity was designed to make English feel natural and fun.

Our EERC teachers use techniques that research shows really work. They combine stories with movement, pictures, and emotion so students remember the words. They use voice and character to capture attention. They make sure every student feels safe to try speaking English—even the quieter ones. And they repeat key language through songs and games, so learning sticks.

The teachers asked questions that helped students think and understand. The students learned vocabulary for shapes and emotions, and they practiced using new words and sentences through partner work and games. Most importantly, students were eager, not nervous. That is what an all-English environment can do when it is warm and playful.

The whole school welcomed us with open arms. Every staff member and student created a space where English felt exciting and achievable.

今天我們到頭份永貞國小進行了生動活潑的英語繪本分享！Lulu 老師帶領孩子們進入”The Little Mouse Learns Shapes”的故事情節中，而Jobeth 老師則透過豐富靈活的肢體與聲音表現，將”I Am (Not) Scared!”的故事角色演繹得活靈活現，同學們都帶著熱情投入其中。

從老師踏進教室的那一刻起，就能感受到滿滿的活力。Lulu 老師利用亮眼的視覺教材，帶領學生一起動手做，讓學生透過故事理解各種形狀。而Jobeth 老師則運用動畫，以及充滿感染力的聲音與肢體動作，讓同學們跟著模仿，並透過手勢和遊戲，學會「害怕」、「快樂」和「生氣」等情緒表達。每個活動的設計都讓英語學習變得自然又有趣。

英資中心的老師們將故事與肢體律動結合圖片及情感連結，幫助學生牢記單字，並以聲音變換和角色扮演抓住他們的注意力，確保每位學生（包括較內向的孩子）都能安心的開口說英語。此外，老師們也透過歌曲和遊戲不斷複習核心語言，加深學習成效，這些都是經研究證實有效的教學技巧。

教學過程中，老師透過提問引導學生思考與理解，讓學生不僅學到新的字彙，也透過彼此的互動與遊戲進行練習。最重要的是，孩子們展現出的是一股學習的渴望而非緊張的神情，這正是全英語環境變得溫暖且有趣時所帶來的奇妙轉變。
