《My First Experience with an Australian Homestay Family》
This is my first time in Australia, and also my first experience staying with a homestay family. At first, I felt scared and uncertain; I thought it might be better to stay at home than with a host family.
When I stood in front of the homestay house, it didn’t look very big, and I doubted it could accommodate many people. However, the host dad told me that there were about eight people living there, including himself. The host mom was there on the first day I arrived, but I didn’t see her again until August 11th.
My bedroom was a bit small, with a table, two beds, a wardrobe, a mirror, and a desk lamp. It was my first time sharing a room with a roommate, which made for a very interesting experience!
Our host mom explained some house rules to Felix (my roommate) and me, but we sometimes accidentally broke them. Luckily, our host parents are very kind and never scolded us.
By the way, our host dad used to be a cook before he retired, though his cooking skills certainly haven’t retired! He always prepared fantastic and delicious meals that truly delighted our taste buds.
Lastly, our homestay is full of cultural diversity. Our host parents are from Hong Kong, four students are from China, two are from Taiwan, one is from South Korea, and another is from Japan. It’s really cool!
