After spending two weeks at Marsden High, I\'ve observed differences in the school environment compared to my experiences in Taiwan. During my time here, I\'ve had two different buddies: one in year 10 and another in year 11. The general atmosphere in the classrooms of year 10 and 11 students differs significantly. When I switched back to my buddy in year 11, I immediately noticed that most students are attentive during classes and are not noisy or rebellious.
As a GSAT student, I fully understand the determination required to study hard, chase dreams, and strive to become the person you aspire to be. This connection made me feel inspired when I saw how seriously the year 11 students take their studies. It also made me realize that no matter where you are, the pursuit of your goals will not become more relaxed or easier. Before coming here, I had assumed that education in Western countries like Australia would be less rigorous and more relaxed. However, I have learned that regardless of the location, achieving significant dreams and clear goals requires consistent hard work and dedication.
Additionally, students here exhibit strong personalities and firm opinions. For example, during an English class, the teacher asked a student if she would read a paragraph aloud to the class. To my surprise, she politely declined and suggested the teacher to ask someone else. From my perspective, I always believed that students should follow teachers\' instructions. However, it is clear that students here are not only bold enough to \"refuse\" but also that teachers respect \"students\' rights to refuse\".
Overall, I consider myself fortunate to have had the opportunity to experience two different educational environments. These experiences have challenged many of my preconceived notions. In the remaining two days at Marsden, I intend to make the most of every opportunity to connect with more people and gain a deeper understanding of their perspectives.
