This week is my first week in Australia. On the first day, I flew from Taoyuan to Sydney. On the airplane, I felt a little uncomfortable because the seat was so narrow that I couldn’t sleep well. However, everything became alright once I left the airplane. When we arrived in Sydney, we went to our homestay family\'s house and had dinner with them. My homestay family is a Chinese couple with two cute daughters and a grandmother. They were very generous and kind. At night, we went to the supermarket to buy some items, such as cookies, milk, and fruit.
On the second day, my roommate and I traveled to Marsden High School by train and bus. The train was different from what we have in Taiwan; it looked like the metro, but it is actually a train. At school, we were assigned a local student to accompany us. He is a Japanese student in grade 10, and his name is Lui. The subjects we studied are similar to those in Taiwan, including mathematics, science, and history. These are the subjects we cover almost every day. However, there is a major difference between the education system in Australia and that in Taiwan: the subjects in Australia are a bit easier than those in Taiwan. Additionally, we met many students and made many new friends. They were all kind and friendly, and they came from different countries, including Australia, Japan, Korea, China, and others. In short, compared with the education in Taiwan, the education in Australia is quite distinct, and this is the most impressive thing to me.
On Wednesday and Saturday, we went sightseeing around the Blue Mountains National Park and downtown Sydney. I think the Blue Mountains National Park is the most exciting attraction of the first week. We experienced many amusement rides, such as the cable car and the steepest mountain climbing train in the world. The scenery was also magnificent. The mountains were high and steep, and the canyon was about 200 meters deep.
In the first week, I experienced many new things in Australia, which have not only broadened my horizons but also changed my perspective. I hope to continue experiencing the beauty and uniqueness of Australia. I am grateful to the Miaoli County Government for giving me this opportunity to go abroad and learn so many valuable lessons, and I will make every effort to study these significant issues.
