5 August was my first day at Marsden High School. We gathered and met my school partner, Haloum. She is a cute and slim girl. She then took us to the classroom for our first class.
The first class was an English class. The teacher asked us to give a presentation, and my classmates and I discussed it happily. The school\'s style of study is more liberal than in Taiwan. Students enthusiastically answered questions and entertained everyone. We had a wonderful time in class.
The course that impressed me the most was math. The teacher gave everyone twenty minutes of reading time before class, during which students took out their own reading materials and started reading. This is different from Taiwan, where reading extracurricular materials is prohibited during class time. I think this is great! It reduces academic pressure on students and makes them enjoy class more. After twenty minutes, the teacher handed out math Scrabble puzzles. They were fun and easy to understand. I love math class here the most!
We had a welcome party during lunch time. The principal also came to welcome us, which made me feel very honored. We had a wonderful lunch together.
