Since I arrived in Australia, everything has been incredible. The environment here is different from Taiwan. The weather is cold and dry, and public transportation is convenient. It is easy for me to go to school or any place I want to visit.
Aside from the differences, there are also some similarities with Taiwan. There are people from many different countries here, not only Europeans but also many Asians.
My homestay parents are from Indonesia. They are really kind and full of love. They give us plenty of free time and also chat with us after dinner. We have learned about many interesting aspects of Australia and how challenging life can be here.
Students here are very independent and can choose their own classes based on their interests. At Marsden High School, students come from all over the world. My study partner is a tall and handsome Japanese boy. He is quite kind and friendly. At school, I meet students from many different countries. It has helped me broaden my global perspective. Making friends from all over the world is enjoyable.
The school learning system is also special. At Marsden, Tuesday is sports day. The entire afternoon is dedicated to sports. Students can choose which sport they prefer and play it for the whole afternoon. Some students join the school team and compete with other schools. This Tuesday, I tried a new sport called “netball”. It’s really cool. It’s a kind of basketball, but the rules are different. The school here places a strong emphasis on physical exercise, and students enjoy playing sports. They have enough time to improve their sports skills. I think this is really nice and one of the most notable differences between Taiwan and Australia. It’s quite a great opportunity to experience school life in Australia at Marsden High School.
I believe there are still many interesting things waiting for me. I am very excited about the next few weeks.
